Summer is the perfect time to experience everything the Ozarks have to offer. From roller coasters and live entertainment to spring-fed rivers, scenic trails, and underground adventures, the region is packed with memorable vacation experiences.
Here are 10 of the best Ozark attractions to visit during summer 2026.
1. Silver Dollar City
There is a reason Silver Dollar City consistently ranks among America’s best theme parks. The 1880s-themed park combines world-class roller coasters, family attractions, live entertainment, traditional craftsmanship, and Ozark-inspired food.
This summer, Silver Dollar City is presenting its Summer Celebration through August 2, 2026. Daytime offerings include the Rainmaker street performance, colorful canopy skies, oversized family games, the Wild West Comedy Stunt Show, and the Silver Dollar Circus.
Beginning July 11, the park is staying open later for nighttime rides, glowing dance parties, and the Night Sky Drone & Fireworks Spectacular.
Visitors can also ride major attractions such as Time Traveler, Outlaw Run, WildFire, Mystic River Falls, and the family-friendly Fire in the Hole. Marvel Cave tours are included with park admission, making Silver Dollar City an easy choice for the top attraction on an Ozarks vacation.
2. Dogwood Canyon Nature Park
After a busy theme-park day, slow down and experience the natural beauty of Dogwood Canyon. The 10,000-acre nature park features waterfalls, limestone bluffs, spring-fed streams, paved walking and biking trails, trout fishing, horseback riding, and wildlife tours where guests may encounter bison, elk, and longhorn cattle.
Dogwood Canyon is also offering several special programs during summer 2026, including Creek Crawl Adventures, guided nature talks, Trapper’s Cabin open houses, Ozark foraging programs, and Stone-Age Survival Skills demonstrations.
Creek Crawl participants use underwater viewers and snorkels to explore aquatic habitats while learning about Ozark streams and watersheds.
3. White Water
Located on Highway 76 in Branson, White Water is the region’s largest outdoor water park and one of the best places to escape the Missouri heat.
The 13-acre park offers the 500,000-gallon Surf’s Up Wave Pool, Aloha River, family raft rides, thrill slides, children’s play areas, shaded cabanas, and Splashaway Cay, which includes smaller slides, water shooters, and splash geysers.
On selected dates from July 10 through August 15, White Water is presenting Night Water and Dive-In Movies. The park remains open until 10 p.m., allowing visitors to ride slides after dark and watch family movies while floating in the wave pool.
The 2026 movie schedule includes A Minecraft Movie, Zootopia 2, Despicable Me 3, Despicable Me 4, Megamind, and Incredibles 2.
4. Dolly Parton’s Stampede
Dinner and a show reach a whole new level at Dolly Parton’s Stampede. Guests enjoy a four-course feast while watching skilled riders, beautiful horses, trick riding, comedy, music, dancing, special effects, and audience participation.
The 2026 production includes an all-new segment called Butterfly Dreams, along with equestrian performances, storytelling, comedic horseplay, a Roman rider, and horses jumping through a ring of fire.
Guests can arrive early to see the horses along the Horse Walk and enjoy pre-show entertainment from the White River Wranglers.
It remains one of Branson’s signature entertainment experiences and an excellent choice for families looking for an attraction that combines a full meal with a large-scale live production.
5. Silver Dollar City’s Showboat
Cruise across Table Rock Lake aboard Silver Dollar City’s Showboat. The experience combines panoramic lake views, a three-course meal, and live music, comedy, and variety entertainment inside the boat’s theater.
One of the biggest additions for summer 2026 is the Sunday Fireworks Cruise. Each Sunday evening at 7:30 p.m. through August 2, the cruise includes entertainment from special guest performers and concludes with a fireworks finale over Table Rock Lake.
The Showboat offers a slower-paced alternative to Branson’s busier attractions and is especially memorable near sunset, when the wooded hills surrounding Table Rock Lake provide a scenic backdrop for the evening.
6. Table Rock Lake
Table Rock Lake is one of the best places to experience the outdoor side of the Ozarks. Its clear water, wooded shoreline, rocky coves, and scenic surroundings make it a popular summer destination for boating, swimming, fishing, kayaking, paddleboarding, tubing, and relaxing near the water.
Numerous marinas around the lake offer boat and personal-watercraft rentals, while lakeside restaurants make it easy to turn a few hours on the water into a complete day trip.
Visitors who prefer to remain on land can explore Table Rock State Park, walk along the shoreline, visit the Dewey Short Visitor Center, or enjoy views of Table Rock Dam.
7. Wonders of Wildlife National Museum & Aquarium
Located in nearby Springfield, Johnny Morris’ Wonders of Wildlife National Museum & Aquarium is one of the region’s best indoor attractions. Its immersive wildlife galleries and enormous aquariums feature animals and ecosystems from around the world.
Summer 2026 programming includes scheduled shark feedings, community pond dive shows, wildlife presentations, painting events, summer camps, and SEArenity Yoga sessions conducted inside the open-ocean exhibit.
Shark feedings are scheduled on select Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays and are included with admission.
Wonders of Wildlife is also offering a Route 66 summer promotion through August 8, with two adult general-admission tickets available for $66 on eligible weekdays. Blackout dates and other restrictions apply.
8. Shepherd of the Hills
One of Branson’s most historic destinations has grown into a combination heritage attraction, entertainment complex, and outdoor adventure park.
The Shepherd’s Great American Summer celebration continues through August 16, 2026, in recognition of America’s 250th birthday. Attractions include the Copperhead Mountain Coaster, TreeTop Sky Trail ropes course, mini golf, the farm area, ziplines, the Vigilante Extreme ZipRider, and Inspiration Tower.
Guests can also see the historic Shepherd of the Hills Outdoor Drama, complete with an optional barbecue dinner pre-show, patriotic tribute, horses, stunts, and an interactive square dance during intermission.
New for 2026, Ozarks Aglow offers an illuminated nighttime walk where Ozark heritage, local legends, and lighting effects come together beneath the stars through July 31.
9. Fantastic Caverns
When the summer heat becomes overwhelming, head underground at Fantastic Caverns near Springfield. The cave remains approximately 60 degrees throughout the year, providing a naturally cool break from hot Ozark afternoons.
Fantastic Caverns offers a roughly 55-minute, completely ride-through cave tour aboard Jeep-drawn trams. The route follows the path of an ancient underground river and passes formations such as towering columns, soda straws, flowstone, and cave pearls.
Because no extended walking, stairs, or steep climbing are required, the tour is accessible to a wide variety of visitors.
Fantastic Caverns is open daily during summer 2026, with extended seasonal hours generally running from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. and the final tour departing one hour before closing. Visitors should verify that day’s hours before traveling.
10. Ozark National Scenic Riverways
For a more rugged outdoor adventure, visit the Ozark National Scenic Riverways in southeastern Missouri. The protected area includes portions of the Current and Jacks Fork rivers, along with springs, trails, historic sites, campgrounds, and some of the clearest waterways in the region.
Summer visitors can canoe, kayak, tube, swim, fish, camp, and hike. Park rangers are also presenting evening programs at selected campgrounds, covering topics such as Ozark wildlife, geology, history, superstitions, and dark skies.
These summer programs generally begin at 8:30 p.m. at locations including Pulltite, Round Spring, and Alley Spring.
Visitors should check river levels and current park conditions before beginning a float. Round Spring Cave tours are closed for the entire 2026 season because of bridge repairs, and the historic Big Spring Lodge and nearby cabins also remain closed for restoration.
